Two years after his first visit in 1977, Grandmaster Jeun immigrated to the United States, eventually settling in Des Moines, Iowa and teaching at Kim's Academy. By September of 1983, Grandmaster Jeun had established the first Jeun's Institute of Tae Kwon Do on the south side of Des Moines in order to continue passing on his knowledge and experience to future generations of students.

In 1984, Jeun's Institute of Tae Kwon Do held its first black belt testing. Although many students have studied under Grandmaster Jeun throughout his years of instruction, only seven students were a part of that first testing.

In 2003, Grandmaster Jeun attained the ranking of ninth-degree black belt.

As of today, Grandmaster Jeun has been teaching in America for over thirty-six years, training over a thousand students to the rank of black belt. Through the years, Jeun's Institute of Tae Kwon Do has operated schools and classes in Knoxville, Des Moines Area Community College, the Mercy Wellness Center, Johnston, the Mason City YMCA, Creston, Greenfield, Milo, and Carlisle.

Currently, Jeun's Institute of Tae Kwon Do is still in full operation at only the main school located on the south side of Des Moines.
